The cameras were switched on from Dec 1st 2022. They prevent ALL out of borough traffic without a visitors permit from turning RIGHT to reach Wandsworth Bridge if travelling eastwards along the New Kings Road. THERE IS NO RIGHT TURN. The cameras operate 24/7 and, with a few exceptions, permits are required on a daily basis. Visitor permits can only be issued at the present time using the RingGo system. Ubers cannot cross the cameras without a visitors permit. The fine for crossing a camera without a permit is £130.
Businesses are only allowed two permits which cost £791 and £1310 for a second permit. Without a business permit businesses CANNOT issue visitors permits for their customers and suppliers. Businesses will suffer and our village atmosphere will be destroyed as commerce no longer flourishes. We already see this on Wandsworth Bridge Road. Now New Kings Road will be affected. More than 160 businesses in South Fulham have signed a letter to the council stating that they are against the scheme as it stands as the cameras will impact their trading adversely
Do you think that you have been consulted? Would you like cameras to operate during the rush hour only? Do you want the cameras removed? Would you prefer one way streets? Would you like Imperial road re- opened? Would you prefer roundabouts at key junction points instead of traffic lights to improve traffic flow? Are you a business? Has your business been disadvantaged by the camera scheme? Are you worried for the future?
